A resurgent the Russian player won his first championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult year, winning just one win at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Corentin Moutet.
This represents the player's maiden title following the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from March of the previous year.
Victory also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 different events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.
His counter-punching strategy and regular outbursts on court had led some to doubt if his skill to play at the highest level was finished.
However the player has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and play positively, supported by an improved serve.
Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the final five points to go ahead.
Both players exchanged service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first tour title, gained dominance to force a final set.
He defended 4 early chances in a competitive final set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, he clinched the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
