Equatorial Guinea captain Carlos Akapo and fellow squad member Josete Miranda have each been suspended for four matches for verbally attacking the match official after their narrow loss by Sudan at the 2025 Afcon.
The decision was made by a governing body committee after it examined the referee's report from the tournament clash on Sunday, a loss that confirmed the team's exit from the competition.
The referee reported that the two footballers "continually uttered abusive and obscene remarks" towards him and his linesmen following the final whistle.
"Such comments were made in a context of extreme frustration related to the defeat, but nonetheless represent a serious violation of the standards of sportsmanship and conduct as well as the disciplinary regulations," noted the referee.
A portion of the respective suspensions for the two players have been deferred for a period of one calendar year.

Both players will now miss their nation's final tournament fixture against their next opponents on midweek.
Meanwhile, the nation's governing body has been penalized a sum of $10,000 after its coaching team and players engaged in "excessive and aggressive complaints" against decisions by the officials.
The official documentation detailed there was "a steady deterioration in behaviour on the touchline" after an unfortunate deflection by defender Saul Coco in the 74th minute.
Additional Disciplinary Measures
Elsewhere, the continental body have also penalized Stallions skipper Bertrand Traore the amount of ten thousand dollars for "offensive comments" made in a post-match interview after his team's 1-0 loss to Angola.
